"Please sir," she stared up at me expectantly. "You look like you have a good job. Can you find it in your heart to spare a little money?" I looked at myself and the new Armani suit I was wearing. She had guessed right about my job. I stopped walking for a moment and stared at her.
She looked young to me, couldn't have been more than fifteen or sixteen years old. Her dark hair was long and dirty. She was wearing torn jeans and a baggy Woodstock t-shirt with tear in the hem.

If I can feign that kind of separation from him, then I can finally let go of this life that erodes my soul more each passing day.
